OK soo i bought a pc off of a friend for like $100 and its a good pc but when i render videos or animation it takes 2or 3 hours for 5 min clips. My mobo can handle a 95w phenom 2 x6 and 8gb of ram and keep in mind this is a second editing pc i take with me to places i stay and my main pc takes only like 15-20mins to render a 40min vid

You did not state what type of video editing you where going to be doing (1080p or 4K), so I put together a few stories here for you info and hopefully provide you with information you need to decide what type of system you will need.

If you want to be in it for the long haul, read the stories at these links after which you will then understand what it takes to Video Edit.

High end systems, there are other systems which cost even more than this one.

If it's DDR2 RAM then I wouldn't bother trying to get it new. Getting 2GB modules of decent DDR2 1066 cost too much now adays. Sometimes though you can find a set of four on ebay from someone scrapping their old Core 2 or Phenom build. If it's just a dual core system then upgrading to an x6 would likely help a lot especially if you can overclock it a bit.

well i mainly downscale from 1080p to 720p so its 720-24p in Movie Studio

And as of rn i dont need mem

it has 4gb ddr2 800 oc to 1066 and my cpu is an athlon II x2 215 oc to 3ghz so its a good pc it just needs updating

Then it's probably worth it to get the 95W X6 and OC it a little. That should cut down your editing times a bit, but the biggest bottleneck might be your hard drive. A cheap SSD, or at least a pair of 7200RPM drives in RAID for a scratch disk will probably do it a world of good

i put a brand new hard drive in it so idk and i dont have any money for an ssd rn im upgrading my aming pc soon it has a 6450 bc i dont have a nother gpu and my gt640 2gb ocd and fried and whats funny is i had it at like 1040 mhz dont ask me how i did it idk it ran fine for about 3 months then it died i got 40+ fps in bf4 med./High Settings so
