Efficient Fan To Replace The Stock Fan Of Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Alright, so after a year of usage -- so much for the 40,000 hours fan life expectancy mentioned on the package -- the fan of my Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO started to make noises at random, and now that it's been a year and a half, it's making noise about all the time. That's it -- I've had enough and I want to replace it with a new fan. Any quality, budget fans you might know of? Keep in mind I barely ever OC my CPU and the only reason I got the Hyper 212 EVO in the first place was to get rid of AMD's noisy stock cooler. Also, that I have my PC on 24/7/365.

The 212 fan is quite nice itself, you can get a new one for fairly cheap.
If you dont want to go the same route, look into some noctua fans.

I would certainly avoid the Cooler Master one for one obvious reason, that is I don't see it to be nice at all according to my experience. What are some of Noctua's compatible (with the Hyper 212 EVO) fans? How about Deep Cool?

Obviously its nearly the same price as the cooler itself.

Any quality 120mm fan with decent SP will work well.

Sourcing a good replacement cpu fan on its own is a pain in the rear end.
It sounds to me like your unit was faulty from the off and I would send Cooler Master an email with a copy of the receipt.
They may just send you another fan. I have never heard any of my friends bring up issues with these fans regarding noise or life span( 3 mates at least back to sandy bridge) so I suspect yours had a faulty bearing installed.
If you cannot find the receipt just ask to buy another fan and explain why.You may get lucky.

It's all over the net: simply search for its name and the next thing it will show up (on search engines) will be NOISE (here's one on TH, which pretty much explains the very same issue I have with this cooler). In any case, where I live they only offer a one-year guarantee for this product.

Although this is an older Topic, feel that I can still contribute, as there's many CM Hyper 212 EVO's in use & still being sold.

Mine is running LOUD on Turbo Mode, set in the UEFI, and although this is an industrial fan & may not be the quietest, at 3,000RPM, is going to move a massive amount of air, now I need to figure out how to install. What I want to do is force the fan to blow through the cooler (not sure if that's the case with the default CM 212 setup) & towards the rear exhaust. The below ought to get the job done.

And will be 1,000RPM faster than the max of the CM Hyper 212 EVO stock fan, plus is backed by a 6 year warranty. I don't believe am going wrong with this upgrade, possibly in more ways than one, if the air is not being blown through the cooler. Being drawn away by sucking it out isn't efficient, am hoping that Cooler Master hasn't reached these lows. Will see before removal to be sure.

if you want something quiet I would go with Be Quiet! silent wings 3, but they are around $20 each.

The one I purchased above was also pricey (around $26), though has a full 6 year warranty, as all of Noctua's offerings are.

I eventually figured out how to make it run quiet, by selecting the Silent Mode. The only time it runs full blast is when the dehumidifier function (an ASRock exclusive) kicks in. This process extends the life of the MB by getting humidity out of the case, a silent MB killer. Wished that other aftermarket MB's offered the feature, as in some environments/areas (example in the US, Seattle), the feature is badly needed, can be set to run every two hours if needed. Mine's set to run once per day for 15 minutes.

One reason why I like ASRock MB's, most are feature filled for the money. And by chance, that's the one where the Hyper 212 EVO is installed, if I had it to do all over again, would had purchased a Noctua NF-A15 fan, like the dual ones on on my main build that has a Noctua NH-D15 cooler. Even in Performance Mode, I don't hear the fans, though the Fractal Design Define R5 has a sound barrier.

Really most any CPU/case fan will outperform the stock fan on the Hyper 212 EVO, when I remove it, felt flimsy as crap. I wouldn't try to convert it into a case fan for my personal use, much less to blow hot air away from a i7-4790K.

There's many choices, keep in mind that one (normally) gets what we pay for.
