You have the 1050 Ti version? That's a pretty solid laptop, if you wanted to get an eGPU, there are 2 ways to connect them, Via Thunderbolt 3 (preferably a port connected through PCI-E) or through the mini-PCI-E slot that the Wi-Fi card uses, you'll be without wifi in that last case.

The way I see it is you'll need at least a 1060 6gb or 1070 eGPU to see a noticeable difference when running an eGPU over Thunderbolt 3 or through the mini PCI-E slot since the latency of either of these connections will slow down your eGPU, making a 1050 ti over Thunderbolt 3 slower than the 1050 ti in your laptop.

If you wan't to be serious about an eGPU it may be in your interests to buy a laptop with a faster GPU installed unless you can get a good deal on a 1060 6gb (or equivalent AMD card like an RX 580) or faster eGPU box.

The only issue is, that Type-C port may not be through the PCI-E bus, meaning the latency will be terrible and won't work very good with an eGPU, you'll want to use a Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port that is wired to the CPU through the PCI-E bus. (yes thats a thing)

Mine does have USB-C but if it's only 10GBs doesn't that mean it's not gonna run at full performance? If so then is there an alternate solution?

Yes, if you run an eGPU through this port you will see a very slow performance, I would expect a 1070 or 1070 ti to perform around or slightly faster than your integrated 1050 ti, the bottleneck will be real in this situation.

However, like I mentioned above, you can get an adapter to run your eGPU through the Wi-Fi card's mini PCI-E slot, it works and will be a better experience than your Type-C 10gb port, but it isn't always the prettiest solution and won't be very portable.

Aside from tbe mini PCI-E slot, there isn't eGPU box that connects through a different port perhaps?

Not that I know of, USB and other types of connectors just can't hand the type of speed needed to run a modern GPU at any sort of usable speed.
