So this may be a bit of an odd ball as far as topics go, but I thought it would be fun. My newest tech interest has become using an external gpu on my macbook. I already have a gaming pc, so this isnt so I can start gaming, it's mostly for my curiosity. I recently found what is probably the cheapest solution out there that's been proven to work. Banggood.com has these full size pcie x16 slot that connects to a laptop using an hdmi to mini pcie connector. Or at least that is the setup in the video. As the video shows, this solution does indeed work, but since I have a macbook, I would be using an hdmi to thunderbolt connector; something that I'm not sure will work. So my question is if using an hdmi to thunderbolt would work the same, or if the difference in adapters would cause some incompatibility. I know that there is probably a very small number of people with prior knowledge of this sort of thing, but anyone who can help is appreciated

Another note, in the video the laptop is shown displaying on another monitor, is that just for the improved resolution, size, etc., or is it necessary?
