Eh?? -5V.....

Looking at a mobo that needs a -5v to work the onboard sound.

MSI SLi platinum....

CAn anyone shed some light on what this is and do new ATX 2.0 pse have it as standard.

what can i say, sucks for you, heh. the new standard doesnt have a -5v rail cause its legacy, but if your mobo needs it, youll have to get an atx v1.3 psu or a sound card.

Great choices on both cards, but you should test the Epox onboard audio first, maybe you decide that the onbard audio it's enough and you can put that money into something else, and if you think the onboard audio it's not good enough you can buy the sound card later.

I just did a review on the Vantec Ion 2 460W power supply. It's an ATX power supply that meets ALL of the following standards:
ATX 2.01
ATX 1.3
ATX 12v
EPS 12v

And so it has a -5v line. It's also very quiet. You should see the review posted at Sysopt in a day or two.
