Tom:

There are capacitors on the sound board in the audio path that dry up over
time and need changed out. This problem often manifests itself in either the
sound OR the voice missing, since they are processed seperately. It can also
be a bad volume pot on the board for the corresponding feature. Have you
tried to adjust these? Is the voice loss sudden, or has it always been this
way?

Chris,

I've heard that the caps go bad over time and often see the
recommendation to swap them out. Wondering which caps exactily though??
Do people just change every cap on the S&T board?? Tnx.

I had this problem with my EBD it turned out to be a wire harnesses in
the Cabinet the Speaker Magnet. I moved the Harness and EBD started
talking again.

Take a look in your lower cab for wire harnesses touching the
speaker...

Gary:

The 1uF and 2uF caps are the first suspects, but by rote I typically
change all the electrolytics - it certainly can't hurt!

Big Daddy sells a S&T Cap Kit for something like $20. Caps DO wear
out, so you might as well replace them all while you're at it - takes a
LOT of the frustration out and eventually they will all need to be
replace anyways. Works great!!
