Hi all

I have decided to take the plunge (sorry, I couldn't help myself) and decided to upgrade my AIO water cooler to a custom loop. All the parts have arrived but I have just one concern, or should I say, two ...

On dismantling the EK Supremacy Evo waterblock to clean and re-assemble with the AMD bracket, I noticed the fins (not sure of the correct term) on the block were poorly machined on the top left corner. I have since received another one and quelle surpise! it has the same problem.

Am I just being paranoid or are these poorly made or is it okay to use?

Your opinions are much appreciated :wahoo:

Thanks!

They way the water block is designed, those bent fins are located on the return end of the fins, it would be different if they were bent in the center of the run, so it won't make any performance difference if you leave them like they are, but if it is bothering you because it is not perfect.

It is no big deal, take a very small precision screwdriver and slide in to separate the fin and put it back into alignment, or you could use a razor blade but be very careful not to nick the nickel coating, but a small precision screwdriver would probably be the best tool to use to straighten it out.

Thank you for your quick reply!

Looking at it the fins in question from a different angle, it does look as if one of them is bent. It just seemed strange that I would get two with the same issue, however if you think it is just a case of a bent fin, I will get it set up asap.

Time to get my feet wet ...metaphorically speaking of course :pt1cable:

Thanks again!

Odd that you'd see a milled component having a bent fin, but it could happen...but yeah, I agree...odd you'd see it twice. Maybe they get dropped into a bin after the milling machine is done with the block and they land awkward....who knows. Just make sure it doesn't look damaged or there isn't anything wrong with the plating.
