I don't think I can fit a 360 in my case with a 980 ti. I'm new to water cooling but I want to try a kit and try molding petg. Can anyone with knowledge help me tell the difference between the hardware. I'm a complete novice with water cooling. I think the L would be fine to cool my 6700k but I'm curious about the differences still.

Thanks.

My rad is a EK CoolStream PE 360, it's 38mm thick.
You won't need 2 loops or even 2 kits, later down the track, if you wish to watercool the gpu too, you can just buy the block and another rad (plus fittings) and add them to the existing loop, the single pump is plenty powerful enough to handle that.

I would grab a tape measure or something to measure the clearance for the gpu.
The site doesn't list any watercooling support, but it looks like a 360mm rad might fit in the front? It's hard to tell from the pictures, you need space for the ends of the rad as they extend past 360mm.
Fan mount spacing is also another issue for mount rads since the spacing has to be fairly exact.

As for modding, i had to slightly mod the fan mount holes on...

You will need at least a 360mm rad for both the CPU and GPU, that's what i run for a 4690k and an R9 290, it does get a bit warm though when both are under load.

With the X240 kit you get:
A plexi top CPU block with leds compared to a black acetal top in the L240 kit
A 60mm XE rad compared to a 38mm rad in the L240
You get the same fans in both kits
Same pump too but a separate 150mm res, the L240 has a pump/100mm res combo
PrimoFlex Clear tubing compared to black OEM tubing in the L240
Same compression fittings in both kits, just different sizes.
The rest of the other accessories are the same too.

If i was to buy either kit i would go for the L240 purely for the pump/res combo, i find it easier to mount the single unit unless you have a larger case with lots of room.

AWESOME information. Thanks. I have 305mm in my Lian Li X900. Take that 38 out and you have 267 left. That's 10.5 inches, which is the smallest 980ti you can get from what I understand. Not sure I fit 267+38 and have room (and that might mean taking out the front fans anyway...) So I think that means I can only use a 240 and try to slot the 980ti under it...hopefully. Any chance the x would be enough to run my cpu and gpu with the thicker rad? I was hoping to expand later, which was why I wanted to get a nice kit from EKWB.

Any ideas of how to make it fit??? :)

Only thing I can think of is a HEAVY mod as there isn't any option to rad at the top right now. I suppose moving to m.2 I could use the top section as a way to rad, but again, only with a heavy mod that's out of my expertise.

You know what, it's such a shallow case, I bet I couldn't put a 360 along the top either. How tall is your 360? What about putting in a 240 right now for the cpu and then modding later to put another 240 in the top later to add in a gpu? Can you link two kits like that into one loop? Or I suppose I could have a separate loop for each too.

As for modding, i had to slightly mod the fan mount holes on my case because the rad was 2-3mm to wide to fit, had i gone with an Alphacool rad i would of been fine.
