ekwb X3 reservoir

i am on the process of setting up my new case.
Which will also have a new watercooling setup.

I got a EKWB X3 250 reservoir with a D5 Vario X-TOP pump.
My entire case is horizontal(the case is dropped into my desk).

The X3 reservoir has 5 ports on the bottom cap and 1 on the top.

As you can see on this image.
1,2&5 are horizontal
3,4&6 are vertical

My new setup would have the pump and res like this.

Does anybody know if there are any risks using the vertical ports when mounted horizontal?
I though it would be easier/better looking if i could use one of the vertical ports for res->pump.
Well basically it makes more sense using the vertical ports or one of each.

If water is going from the vertical port to the pump, that means the entire resevoir would always need to be full or else the pump will start sucking air (not good).

I would rotate the reservoir so that the port you use is closer to the ground, however it seems you are pretty tight on space for the tubing to fit. Would you be able to reposition the reservoir and or pump?

Both the pump and the reservoir can be moved.
But just in the area you see in the 1st photo.
So that's probably not going to make a big difference.
I could maybe move the hd rack, but that all depends on where the pulp and res will be.

Edit: Was just think about what you said.
Though not sure if i am missing something.
The entire setup is horizontal, the case is mounted into my desk.
So the the reservoir will not be mounted straight up but completely flat.

Thats what i figured the vertical ports made more sense in this setup instead of the horizontal.

with this type of setup, I would put a 90 degree fitting inside the reservoir, on the port that the pump will be attached to, the 90 would be angled so that the water intake is as low as possible inside of the reservoir.

What if i turn the reservoir so the 2 vertical ports are straight up?
Then use the bottom one to go to the pump, would that not be the same?
Then use either the other vertical port or the top horizontal port to intake the water from gpu back to res(end of loop)

Ok going to see if i can get my tubing like that then.
Was not sure i could use those vertical ports when mounted horizontal.
