Elpida Bankruptcy, how will it affect pricing of PC Memory in 2012

Elpida ranked third in the global DRAM market with a 12 percent share in the three months to September, far behind Samsung Electronics, with 45 percent, and Hynix, with 22 percent.

The prices for the DDR3 are so low, it would not surprise me if they would go up 15% or so.

It was never about the customer. We are the last to benefit.

If there was no Intel, than u would pay for slower AMD CPU 3 times more, as there would be nobody to push them to develop faster and more efficient and cheaper product.

They would not have to compete at all and people would still buy AMD, as there would be nobody else to choose from.

And the release of the new CPU would take much longer than it is now.

And Vice Versa.

And it is the same for every product.

The competition drives the quality up and prices down. Not how many people buys it.
