Emachines cd/dvd drive wont shut!! HELP PLEASE

Hi my emachines disk drive thinks my drive is closed but it is open and wont shut what can I do? I went to the start menu and then to computer and opened up the cd/dvd option and it said it cannot open. Its already open its STUCK open!! I can't get it to shut!!! Maybe its easy but I can't figure it out so PLEASE HELP!! i WOULD BE GRATEFUL!! THANKS

Hi, do not worry. Optical disk drives are easy to pull out and replace. If you google very well, you might find a video on how to remove the drive, since all pc's can be different.

Also, removing the power cord from the back of the drive might help. Then try to force the door closed. Another thing to try is to leave the power on, and look for a small pin hole on the front of the drive. It will be hard to see as it is usually obstructed some by the extended disk tray. Anyway, stick an unbent paper clip in there. That is a manual override. Might reset the door and close it.

But just know that optical drives are cheap and easy to replace. Just be glad it wasn't a hard drive problem.
