Hi, I am looking for a software that monitors/controls employee internet access/usage. I am aware of a few but all seems to require server and client machine installation. I am interested in a software that do not require any client machine installation, only for server installation only. Anyone know of any such software? Cheers!

A generic "server" is not going to accomplish this. You need either a firewall or a proxy that you can somehow force all user traffic through. There are a number of free versions but the key is the filter lists that categorizes web sites/ip. These lists tend to have a fairly costly monthly fee. We have to pay those poor guys forced to surf porn all day :)

Still this is much less effective that it used to be. Because almost all web traffic is now encrypted via HTTPS you can't see much other than the IP addresses. IP addresses also do not mean a lot because of all the hosting centers that web sites run on. It is like russia blocking all of amamzon's ip blocks to try to stop some application they do not like because they could...

IP addresses also do not mean a lot because of all the hosting centers that web sites run on. It is like russia blocking all of amamzon's ip blocks to try to stop some application they do not like because they could not determine which one was in use at any time. Even this site you would not really know it was toms hardware all you would see is traffic to akamai.

The only way to really do this is to monitor on the clients before the encryption happens.
