I use a seagate expansion 5tb HDD on which I put my mp4 movies so I can watch them on a Samsung tv. Since yesterday, when I add movies to the HDD they show up as empty folders on my Samsung TV. All the movies I ever added before yesterday play just fine. It's only the movies that I added since yesterday that show up as empty folders on my samsung tv. The movies play perfect on pc. When I copy a movie from my seagate expansion HDD to another Seagate expansion hdd it plays fine as well on my samsung tv. Does anybody have an idea what could be wrong?

How full is the drive? Have you filled the drive past 2TB?
No, there's about 800gb on it. Ihave my hdd structured like this :
folder (for example horror) in there I have folders (for example 1960-1969) in there I have folders with the movie names. In these folders are the mp4 files. In some folders I can see the mp4 in other folders not. when I pull the mp4 out of it's folder and put it on the HDD without it sitting in a folder I can play the mp4.

At least a couple years ago, just about no TV actually properly supported GPT partitioned disks. Some people have reported those may appear to work but files don't show anymore once any part of them are placed past the 2TB mark (so in your case defragmenting the disk in a PC may work for now while you don't have much data).

The solution is to partition the drive with MBR into multiple 2TB partitions using 3rd-party partitioning software. You can have up to four primary partitions on a MBR disk so up to 8TB can be used before resorting to logical drives in an extended partition... which may or may not work depending on the TV. The 3rd party partitioning software can even format 2TB partitions in FAT32 (which is often faster to browse but wastes some slack space if there are many small files due to the large cluster size--though movies tend to be very large ones so this is of no consequence)
