Enabling nvidia instead of intel

Hi everyone I'm Paul. I've bought my lad a pc for Xmas, his first. I'm a noob but can do things with the help of YouTube etc. It's a stormforce tornado, Intel i5 with 1070 gpu. I'm really struggling to swap them over as its using the Intel graphics and everything is lagging .
I'm wanting to set it up for Xmas morning so he can play. Is there an easy way to do it? There are no instructions as such and it's been a nightmare.
I have windows 10 and have install the correct nvidia drivers.
Any help would be most appreciated

Plug the monitor into the 1070 and not the motherboard.
