[SOLVED] enabling xmp in bios crashes pc to bsod

I built my first pc for my son in September. I went with a Ryzen APU because it was affordable and I figured it was enough for his needs. {He mostly plays Garry's Mod, a few other steam games, older titles like Half-Life} I had a few hiccups in the beginning with the display driver crashing but after a few restarts it corrected itself somehow and all was good with the world. He was Gmodding all day with no lag and no problems. I had XMP enabled in the bios with all other settings on auto. No OC on the CPU just running the RAM at it's rated speed 3000mHz. I had learned that the Ryzen APUs need good fast RAM to do any kind of gaming with them. Then windows updated on Nov 10/11th. He could no longer play his games, so much lag it was unplayable and random crashes. I tried updating all the drivers. Chipset, display etc. Then I noticed that XMP was disabled in the BIOS. I enabled it and the system bricked. I could no longer even get to BIOS screen. I had to start over and wipe the SSD and reinstall Windows from USB. I updated BIOS to F31,{ still debating whether to go ahead and go all the way to F50 as it is risky flashing the BIOS. } updated all other drivers from the gigabyte website and then went to AMD to install the Radeon Software and drivers. PC crashed again and then started looping blue screen after blue screen all different errors. I was stumped. So I booted in safe mode and used DDU to uninstall AMD display drivers. PC booted into windows no problem, no BSOD, no crash, but using the basic display adapter from Microsoft. I am afraid to install anything from AMD now! Obviously he can't run any games like this either but not sure what driver is safe to install. I've run memtest with no errors and checked the drive as well no errors found with just the basic tools that windows provides. Windows will boot with XMP enabled no problem with the AMD drivers not installed. It will also boot in safe mode but as soon as I install the drivers or I let windows install the driver it will no longer boot into windows just BSOD and then go into recovery. Here are the specs:
MOBO: Gigabyte AB350N Gaming-wifi( rev. 1)
APU/CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G
RAM: GSkill AEGIS 16GB(2X8GB) 3000mHz CL 16-18-18-38
PSU: Thermaltake Smart 500W 80+ white.
Because I'm a total noob at this I did not mess with any timings or voltages. I realize that running the RAM at this speed is considered OCing to some people but I bought it because that is the speed I need it run at for the APU to do its best. Obviously it's of no use to run it at 2133. I could have just saved myself some cash and bought RAM to run at that lower speed. I need XMP enabled or the pc is pretty much useless. As I am new here if this is in the wrong place please let me know where to post or move the thread if needed.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that didn't work. I even lowered it a bit more and the system still crashes as soon as I install the AMD drivers. It will not crash with just the basic display only when I try to install the drivers. I even tried installing an older version of the Adrenaline software, still no go. I am at a loss. It was working fine for over 2 months. I'm not sure what changed. I'm fairly sure its the driver software as I have seen thru my internet travels that a lot of people have had problems with it but I guess it could be the memory controller on the CPU ? I built a similar system for myself and its working fine with XMP enabled and the latest driver. Bad/Cheap RAM? It wasn't really cheap when I bought it, $80-not cheap in my opinion, nearly as much as the the CPU itself. I've been at this for over a week and I'm just about ready to throw in the towel.

I lowered speed to 2866 and left xmp enabled, installed previous version of windows (2004) and let windows install the driver. Working fine now. I noticed that the AMD Radeon software is not installed just the driver. Not sure what the issue was... whether it is the latest version of windows or the amd software.
