Yes I am. This is for reading samples (mostly for reading data) as I am musician and want to put virtual instruments on it - so I need a very quick read access.
I am confused because:
My friend uses Drobo Mini with Thinderbolt on A Mac. The idea is not so nice because this Drobo always reserves 20% of capacity of SSDs for recovery. And it is very expensive.
So I was thinking of USB3 (I own MacBook Pro Retina) - but my question - will THIS solution

be much slower for reading times on USB3?
Ideally I would like to have 3T raid 0 or 2x2T.
The solution must be portable the more the better.
You are telling me that every dock will do- but what are transfers? How can know enclosure's manufacturer has not put inside any poor chipset. Which one - can you recommend?
And again I do not care writing times only reading. For now use
https://www.amazon.co.uk/WD-Passport-Portable-External-Drive/dp/B00IZFX5OA My Passport Pro 4G not SSD but my friend has told me there is something like 6 or more times difference in opening projects between MyPassport Pro and DroboMini.
What should I go for?
I read all he technical data but am still confused.
WyomingKnott :
Any external RAID enclosure that supports RAID0 will work. Are you aware that, with RAID 0, if either disk fails you lose all the data on both disks? Please plan to have backups!
