Hi!

This is second build and I am still very unaware of things. The first time around I used 3200mhz ram as I had heard concerns over using 3600mhz on certian boards or cpus...

I ordered black vengance pros from amazon and they ended up sending me white 3600mhz pro instead. The cpu i am using is a 12400f with a H670 pro wifi d4 asus board. Should i keep the 3600mhz ones or will enabling xmp cause wonkiness with the system. I really wanted a black build, so the color is kind of bothering me, but i figured people here would know better then i would.

That board supports up to 5330mhz DIMMs. Your 3600mhz DIMMs should work fine. If however you are unhappy with the color, and if it's not too much hassle to do so (Amazon, etc.) then send it back and get what you paid for. I would never settle and just accept that somebody sent me the wrong parts but I know that in some regions it's just not that simple like it is when ordering in other regions, especially through Amazon or similar retailers. But as to the memory, it should work fine as should it's XMP profile.

Thank you so much.

I'm still mulling if i should where it is slightly faster, though it being c18 vs c16, I'm not sure that is enough to justify even if it is just aesthetics at that point.

With that CPU the small things probably don't matter quite as much as they would with a CPU that could really benefit from them. Obviously, and for obvious reasons, faster memory and lower latencies are always desirable because we'll take whatever we can get especially if we can get it for relatively free, but trying to buy into a faster or lower latency DIMM with the idea that it is going to make an appreciable difference with a 12400f is maybe reaching a little. It certainly can't hurt to always have a higher frequency and lower latency memory kit but I wouldn't pay more for it especially with that CPU and MOST especially if you are not running specific games or applications that are WELL known to be both memory intensive AND to benefit from not just capacity but actual true latency, something that depends entirely on frequency and timings.

So if the question is "Is paying more for a higher end kit worth it", then the answer in this case, with this particular CPU, is generally going to probably be no. Now, on the other hand, if you can get a very low latency kit at the same or higher frequency, for around or not much more than the same price, then it might be worth doing. Usually, the G.Skill Ripjaws are where you might find some really decent deals in that regard.
