Endless boot loop after attempt to repair installation

I am trying to fix windows 10 in an asus laptop, as after the last major windows update was installed, windows would not load and it would automatically load into the recovery options (but there was no restore point). I could manage to enter windows, but they seemed to be corrupted (no desktop icons would appear, explorer would not load, wifi and sound not working).

I followed instructions to load into safe mode and uninstall this last update. It seems to be done successfully, but still I got the recovery options after rebooting. Entering windows, they seemed to be corrupted like before. I used a new usb flash stick with windows to try to repair (keeping apps and files), but after a while the machine did a reboot (I guess as part of the reinstallation of windows) and then entered an endless reboot loop, and was nothing to do with it.

Even now, when I try to boot it goes into the same loop. There is the asus logo, then the windows logo, then for a fraction of a second a green screen, seemingly part of the repair process, and then it reboots again.

I tried to enter recovery mode again, but even when I managed to do it no explicit windows installation seemed to be recognised.

I can enter through a linux usb flash stick and see all the windows installation. Is there anything else I could probably try, before backing up all files and doing a clean install?

Thanks for your answer.

I can get into the command prompt, but running SFC with these parameters returns that, in order to complete the repair of the system it is necessary to restart the computer, and to restart windows and run the commands again. Of course, rebooting does not help. If I just let it reboot, it goes through all the endless loop, and if I force it to boot through the usb media, and go to command prompt and run the command again, it again asks to reboot.
