Enemies at Distance

Hi, i couldnt find the answer that i am looking for so i decide to post here.
I am having hard time spotting the enemies at distance in games like squad or pubg, like many others.
While all my squad is shooting at the enemy im still trying to figure out where they are.
I have a monitor that is 32 inch 1080 @60hz. And can run the game at 60hz high settings.
I know the monitor size is not ideal for competitive gaming but i need a big screen for other things.

Would more resolution and/or refresh rate help me to spot enemies, if so which is more effective?
And what else do you all recommend?

In order to see movement two things come to mind.

Contrast
It is much easier to see a white target moving against a black backround than a navy blue target moving against a black backround.

Refresh rate
The sooner you are given the information that an enemy is there the sooner you can react.

1080P/60hz is fine but what I usually do for competitive gaming is turn down the settings to Low and then raise up anything that can identify enemies (this is Mesh Quality in BF series).
