Enhanced IDE (EIDE) recovery to USB

I want to help a friend recover an old enhanced IDE (EIDE) hard drive. Hopefully using a dockingstation or cables of some kind.

I find plenty of IDE to USB converters - but none EIDE to USB.

1. Is IDE and EIDE communicating in the same way? Aka. can I use an IDE to USB and it will work?

2. Any recommendation to solve my problem and to recover the content?

EIDE is backwards compatible with IDE.....so yes...it should work.

I take it you don't have an IDE/EIDE machine handy. If you did you could put it in there and do it.
