"Enter Network Credentials" - Huh?

I bought a new Acer Aspire Switch 10 with Windows 8.1.

For the life of me, despite all my Googling (which really only confused me more), I cannot connect it to my home network. The switch 10 sees all the computers on my network, and my other computers see it, but I am really struggling to make a connection.

When I try to connect to my desktop through the switch 10, I get a pop-up asking for my "Network Credentials" in order to connect to my desktop. I have no idea what credentials they are referring. I have never (as I can recall) have had to enter such information when connecting to my desktop from other computers on my network.

Please, I seriously need help.

Hi Wolfshadw, thanks for offering your support.

I didn't think I had a username/password combination for my desktop. I just tried both blank, hit enter, and I was granted access.

I guess that was the simple solution.
