"Enter Network Credentials" when trying to share files on network

I have a desktop and a laptop both connected to the same network and on the laptop, I shared a file. On the desktop, when I try to go into Windows Explorer and open the net shared files folder under "Network" and under my Laptop's name, I get a message saying "Enter Network Credentials".

But WHAT credentials? My desktop does not have a password while my laptop does. What am I supposed to do?

You need to use the user name and password for your laptop to access the file on your laptop.
