well my rig is a enthusiast rig, I7-970@4.2, sabertooth x58, 2x6970 frozor3, 120gb 510, 12 gigs patriot extreme@2140, 1000w kingwin lazer 80plus bronze and a darkfleet 85 case...........
this rig is what we call mid line gamer, in the buisness of building rigs for people custom.

For those of us who have better things to spend our money on than "enthusiast rigs," this is not a bad machine. Sure beats my X2 2.8/2GB/x1950 Pro!

WTF is anyone going to do with a 30Gb SSD drive? Sell it for something usable maybe?

This might have been a hot system 2 years ago, right now it's just a joke. Thank god I can afford a better system and don't have to enter this stupid contest!

How about if I win and I give my Uncle's address and he ships it back to the UK for me, would that be OK?
Nah, how about a foreign fans only competition, entrants from the USA are excluded, what are the chances apart (maybe 6 billion to 1)

Possibly this SSD was a joke 2 years ago, but with the 2500k's ability to use Intel's Smart Response SSD caching, a small SSD like this doesn't seem too bad at all, considering the processor they are using. If this was an AMD build... I could see the justification behind that comment. But being an Intel Sandy Bridge, it seems like the choice wasn't made in haste. Just my opinion.

^If you buy into Intel's marketing mumbo jumbo then yea, maybe a 30Gb SSD wouldn't seem like a joke....but the two 460's should be the most obvious clue this system was built with whatever crap was lying around. A well thought out PC would have at least gone with a 500 series or 6900 on the AMD side.

I'm just saying, look at the sponsor, can't they at least afford a couple of 560's with a nice 128Gb SSD? At the very least I hope that Windows Home is the 64bit version!

[citation][nom]mortsmi7[/nom]I'd cannibalize it for a few upgrades.[/citation]
so would i. if i got it i would take the ram and the gtx 460s and put it in my comp. i might also oc my i5 2500k a bit more aggressively, if i ended up burning it out, then i would have a spare ;)

I'm running my main rig on a 30GB SSD, partitioned off at 27.5GB mind you. It's tight but it can be done. I don't have all my software on it, just the ones that I use often and which get the most benefit.

You people are animals man... I basically have this identical rig give or take a few minor details and it maxes out ANYTHING I PUT IN! Crysis 1 and 2, BF3 Beta, GTA4, Batman AA, Metro 2033... I know there are better rigs you can buy out there but above 1080p it would be pretty much a WASTE of money!! Since when does enthusiast have to mean most expensive?! Don't get me wrong I'd love to spend 5,000 on a machine, but just cuz you don't doesn't mean it's crap! Get over yourselves...

If I won however(having basically this same build), I'd sell off a few pieces on ebay from the two machines I have and build something pretty sweet... *dreams*

Well, I notice that this *is* One of the monthly "System Builder Marathon" rigs... And really, for the price, isn't that terrible for performance. I mean, hadn't we all concluded that for the money, the i5 2500K was the most worth spending money on? (especially once you squeezed in a nice OC?)

The real amuzing part is that there's a claimed retail value of approximately $1,250US, yet the SBM page shows it cost $1,032US. So apparently they're acting as if the Vipre Antivirus is worth $218US? I have a hard time buying that, (pun not intended... Maybe) Since at last check it was free to all us enthusiasts who gave a "Like" to Tom's on Facebook. Of course, not that any of us would want much to do with typical antivirus software...
