Entertainment for a dellxp

my entertainment on my pc has been removed so i can't acess my sound but i can see it but can't turn it up or anything and now it's telling me i have no sound driver and when i try to download them from micosoft a message comes on and says the download has failed please help!

Look in the device manager to see if you have an audio device conflict.

I assume you've tried the sounds and audio icon in the control panel?
