Entry Level Intel Video Editing with room to grow

Been lurking for a while, and am about to buy and would appreciate a sanity check from you guys who know whats up. I'm looking to build a basic system with integrated graphics and then later double the ram, add an Nvidia GTX card, SSD and extra hard drives for raid as cash permits (probably in that order too). That looks like a fairly decent set up. It won't demolish Premiere, but like you said, its a start. I would maybe go with a different cpu or motherboard. The 3570k is unlocked for overclocking, but I am not sure that motherboard can overclock it. A better board from ASRock would be the Extreme 4. That's what I would go with.

There's a sale on Seagate 1tb drives that only cost $50. You should get an i5-3470 since you don't plan to overclock. Much cheaper and you won't notice the difference.

Thanks for the feedback. I was wondering if I should go with a non-unlocked processor because I have no real interest in overclocking, and with a difference of around $20 I probably will. Would the HD 2500 integrated graphics on the i5-3470 be a noticable drop from the HD 4000 on the i5-3570k since I plan on using the integreated graphics for at least a few months.

Also, the ASRock extreme 4 looks good, but do I gain any benefit from that other than the ability to overclock?

No, if you don't plan to OC. Just get the Asrock H77 MVP/PRO.

Yeah, but you really shouldn't use integrated graphics for those things. You would need a Nvidia card for Cuda.

Yeah. There's a lot of info on the best cards available for Adobe, and I also plan to do some work in blender too, but it seems more forgiving on card selection, so I will probably pick what works best for premiere and then just double check that it works with blender too.

Right now i'm working on a very old 2.0GHz core 2 duo mac mini with integrated graphics and I just need to start the process moving towards a new solution on a limited budget SOON. The integrated graphics is just a stop-gap to allow me to save up the funds for a better card while still getting better performance.

My other idea would be to go with an AMD PD chip (the 6 core probably) and use the savings of $70 or so to put into a graphics card, but my it seems as though intel is drastically better in terms of video editing performance. Thanks again for your help!
