Here's one for somebody's memory....

Question, does the 7KXA+ automatically detect whether DIMMs are PC100 or
PC133 or is there some setting that I have to change in the BIOS?

How can I tell if PC133 memory is running at that speed or at PC100 speed?

I checked the old archives in Google Groups but didn't find any answers.

I picked up a 7KXA+ rev 1.2 mobo cheap a while back to use with a Slot A
Athlon and some PC133 DIMMs that I had. I checked it out on my bench test
setup and it was DOA. I figured I didn't loose much. I contacted Epox and
they told me it would cost $60.00 to repair so I jut put it back in the
box and set it aside.

Yesterday I was checking out some mobos, CPUs and memory that I had
sitting around and decided to fire the 7KXA+ up again. It posted right
away. The CMOS battery is probably dead but that's easy to fix. I reread
the manual that I D/L'd and updated the BIOS to the latest version. It
seems to be working fine.

In the BIOS under Frequency/Voltage Control is a setting for DRAM Clock.
DRAM +33 is the setting for PC133. Not real intuitive....

At POST it lists the amount of memory and "DRAM +33" to show it's running
at PC133.

I've been running Memtest386 ver 3.0 on some memory in this board: 1 256MB
PC133 and 1 128MB PC133, both Kingston ValueRam ( I know, I got it real
cheap - I usually run Mushkin or Crucial memory).

Both DIMMs check out OK by themselves for 3-5 hours of Wall Time but the
pair start producing errors after a few hours when they are installed
together. Is this significant or just a bug in Memtest386?
