Question EPS only 4 pins detected

I have an Asus z390-e motherboard. I decided recently to upgrade the fans, get a new case and an aio.

I put it together from my perfectly working pc and now I'm getting a warning on post screen, then a blue screen of death, the waning states I have only 4 pins connected to the CPU and not 8.

I have reseated the EPS on both the PSU and the motherboard and also swapped the cable, also swapped the psu, lastly cleared the cmos, none of this worked. I have done a visual inspection of the motherboards EPS pins, they look fine, but I do suspect the motherboard as it's the only thing left, it worked perfectly before the case swap, anyone got any ideas?

Contact Asus support and ask them. Since this is the 1st time i see this kind of error being presented past POST.

Though, what it says is true. PC can operate with 4-pin EPS but 8-pin EPS is better, especially when you OC your CPU.

Btw, you might end up replacing MoBo. But see what Asus support says first.

If you have old PSU, can you put it and it's +12V EPS cable back (just for testing) and look if you get the same issue?

If you do, issue is most likely MoBo (and you can contact Asus). If not, issue is with new PSU.

Take the mobo out of the case and put it on a piece of cardboard.
Power up.......any diff?

I have cablemod cables, and the PSU's use the same cables between them anyway, one being an rm750 and the other an rmx1000 so I tried both with a new cable that I had from the cablemod set (since the current CPU only takes an 8 pin, I had another 8 pin spare)

Would you know how to get hold of Asus? I Can only seem to find built desktops or mobiles or laptops for support options in the UK.

I have ordered another motherboard, the maximus but I accidentally ordered it from someone in China from eBay so now it's going to take several weeks to get here so I'd like to see if I can fix this one

I have cablemod cables, and the PSU's use the same cables between them anyway, one being an rm750 and the other an rmx1000

If you have yellow label RM750 and black label RM100X, then do note that CableMod cables for these two PSUs are different, since the pinout on PSU's side is different.
But if you have black label RM750, then it's cables are compatible with black label RM1000x as well.

Thanks for the response, I'll send an email, in normal circumstances you'd be right regarding the PSU differences from cablemod, but if you look you'd find that the newer updated version of the rm750 used, (I believe 2019) the same cables. (I also had this running before and updated the PSU a few weeks ago so know this isn't the issue)
