I use the utility at http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml for my 680. Been
using it for about a year.

Yes, there are hardware resetters and some software as well.

You can buy the resetters for under $10, or your refiller can do it for you.

However, the newer Epson cartridges are not easy to refill. I suggest
doing a Google search to find the instructions.
