Epson 880 printer - status monitor

Please can anyone help? My Epson 880 printer will print out a test page but when I come to print any other document, it won't work. The grey box comes up saying "printing page 1", then a message saying:

"unable to monitor current status. Close all EPSON status 3 monitor windows and the driver's property. Then, in the driver's utility menu click the epson status monitor 3 icon button. Then restart your computer".

How the heck do I find my driver's utility menu? Any help greatly appreciated. I'm going out of my mind because I have an important document I need to print.

OK, found where the utility menu is - clicked the 'status monitor 3' button - restarted the computer... guess what? Same problem; same error message. I'm completely baffled.
