We have an Epson R200 and it has 6 separate ink cartridges in it. When you print, a window will open and show you the status of each cartridge, i.e. how much ink is left. I would like to know:

1. Are these indicators accurate?

2. If the indicators are not accurate is there a way to verify a cartridge still has ink? I was hoping for some utility that could print a (1) spot with each cartridge on a test page, or something to that effect. That why you can get physical confirmation that each cartridge is still outputting ink.

Thanks

New printers are fairly good at determining the amount of ink left. My canon i950 really means it is out of ink when it says so. The cartridges (6 of them) are clear and I can see that they are nearly dry.
Doing a head cleaning would probably give you a line from each color. I wouldn't do it regularly though, it usually sucks a lot of ink.
