Epson R300 and Bluetooth

Must I use the Epson Bluetooth printer adapter on my R300?! Can't I use a
generic USB booth adapter?! Has anyone made it work? I'm getting the error
"The connected device cannot be used" flashing on the LCD screen when I plug
in my generic USB bluetooth adapter to the front of the printer. I'm
guessing Epson has slipped in some code to foil my plans or is this just the
wrong device?. It just means I have to have the bluetooth adapter on the
computer instead of the printer.

Shouldn't it be plugged in at the back? AFAIK, the front port is for
connecting an external drive....

The back of the printer has a standard female USB printer port (square) to
connect to a computer, the front port can be used for USB devices like
drives, cameras and USB bluetooth (basically a wireless serial port
communication). Epson's "optional" bluetooth device costs two to three times
as much as a conventional USB bluetooth adapter. My generic USB bluetooth
adapter does work when I plug it into the port. It works when I plug it into
my computer however. It's either "keyed" to their product or it's a
different type of USB bluetooth device.

You need a print server. Apparently, the Epson solution is the cheapest and
simplest.
