Epson R800 Ink Usage

Just got my Epson R800 last week and I love it. This is the first time I
have had an inkjet with individual cartridges. I have a general question on
ink usage. I will be using the printer pretty much for portraits and nature
photographs (5 x 7s and 8 x 10s). I'll probably use the ICC settings and
print on maximum resolution. Here are two questions: 1) what color will
normally run out first? and 2) how my 8 x 10's can I expect under these
conditions before I have to start replacing ink cartridges? Thanks.

UNDERSTAND THAT ALL EPSONS HAVE A TENDENCY TO CLOG. PIGMENTED PRINTERS
ARE EVEN MORE FUSSY AND HAVE A GREATER TENDENCY TO CLOG. YOU HAVE A
PIGMENTED PRINTER. WHILE THE RESULTS ARE NOT AS VIBRANT AS A DYE BASED
PRINTER (EPSON OR CANON) THEY DO WELL ON MATTE PAPER AND ARE SUPPOSED TO
RESIST FADING MORE.

NEVER USE ANY INK OTHER THAN EPSON. IF YOU DO THEN YOU WILL HAVE A CLOG
SOONER OR LATER AND YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO FEE IT. AND THERE GOES YOUR
PRINTER.

aftermarket inks. He has very strong and strange opinions and fails to
realize that they are meaningless given his lack of experience. He is a
fool.

THIS IS A GOOD IDEA. TRY ALL THE RESOLUTIONS ON EACH TYPE OF PAPER AND
THEN DECIDE ON THE RESULTS. DO NOT LISTEN TO MANY OF THE JERKS ON THIS
NG. TEST AND ANALYZE THE RESULTS YOURSELF.

Some people have problems with clogged inkjet heads; some never do. The
consensus of opinion is that clogging is caused by keeping the printer in
a dry or dusty atmosphere, where direct sunlight can shine on it, by using
paper that creates a lot of dust or, sometimes, by too infrequent use. Try
to avoid any of these and you should be OK.

Good advice.

Here's how you can identify the jerks:

They constantly throw infantile abuse at other posters. This usually
includes expletives.

They insist that they're right about something despite numerous other
posters offering personal experience to the contrary.

Their posts are frequently capitalised throughout. This is the online
equivalent of the childish tactic of shouting other people down, in the
delusional belief that it will, somehow, convince others that you're
right.

Interestingly enough I find the same with CMYK printers that the C goes
first (excluding the black!) The vast majority of my pictures are the
internals/externals of houses. I would guesstimate the Cyan goes about
10-15% faster than the other two, but no discernable difference between
M&Y

Ink costs for OEM ink seem to average at about < US$1.00 per full bleed
A4 (11.7 x 8.3). Your mileage may vary. Maybe 40-50 A4's before first
cartridge change. Second set will last longer than the first - some of
the first set gets used priming the print head.
Most users seem to report that the Cyan goes first.
