When I first installed WinXP it detected the 740 printer and ran it I
recollect as USB which allowed the printing progress (or whatever it's
called) window but as expected no ink remaining indicators.

However due to a HD failure I reinstalled XP but now the printer is
installed as an Epson 740 ESC/P The printer now takes much longer to
begin printing and occasionally crashed the system which it rarely if
ever did on Win98 or the first XP installation.

I've looked in the XP printer list for another driver but ESC/P is the
only one.

Any hints how to remedy this please.

Thanks.

Marie.

Is it possible that the current driver is from Windows and you need to
reinstall the Epson 740 driver? I believe one can go to Epson.com to
download the driver and status monitor to reinstall.
Good luck

That is exactly what happened with my Epson Photo 700. The driver from Epson
needs to be reinstalled.

Apparently less than 10% of accidents are caused by drivers exceeding the speed
