Bought a used Pro XL with no user guide. It prints fine but I urgently
need to change the color cartridge. The keypresses are described under
the lid, but I can't seem to get any of them to work:

1) Switch on holding the pause button
2) Hold Alt for 5 seconds.

This is how I am interpreting the advice in the lid - am I missing
something here, nothing happens, and the carriage sits in its usual
place waiting patiently for me to print something

- turn on the printer
- press the pause button
- press and hold the alt button for 5 seconds
- the print head carriage will move to the right
- replace the ink(s)
- press the alt button
- the printer will do a cleaning cycle
- press the pause button

Thanks Ototin, as usual the symbols on the lid are no substitute for a
few lines of text! The users guide seems completely unavailable

The user manual for the Stylus Pro-XL is available at the Epson web
site http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportIndex.jsp

Just search for "pro-xl" within support. The result should lead you to
the user manual in pdf format.

Thanks Ototin, I think the hyphen fooled my seraches, there's no sign
of a hyphen anywhere on my printer! In fact to be really nit-picking,
try searching the pdf for pro-xl?

It works both ways, pro-xl or pro xl. A search result leading to the
user manual will be returned. Below is the direct URL to the user
manual
