I have an Epson XP-640 printer and I have several photos that I need to scan. Been doing one at a time, looking for a quicker way to do this. Can I put multiple photos at one time on the scanner and have them scanned as separate files? I tried that but it put all the photos into one file. Don't see an option to scan as separate files. Without buying different equipment or taking them to a service, what are my options?

What scanning program are you using?

This printer?

Take a look at the Main Settings and Advanced Settings.

= = = =

One scan usually results in one image file.

However, I remember seeing some software tool that recognizes if there are multiple photos being scanned and thus creates a separate file for each photograph. May have required an interim end user edit to "box in" each photograph versus the software doing so. Or the software made a "best guess" and the end user corrected the guesses.

Something like the following products (example only - not a recommendation or endorsement).

https://autosplitter.com/#:~:text=A...ning software can, save them to separate files.

Google "How to scan multiple photos into separate files" for more websites etc..

Revise the search criteria as necessary to filter the results in accordance with your requirements.

I am using the program that came with the printer, Epson scan 2.

Yes that is the printer, Epson XP-640.

I have looked through both main and advanced settings, tried in both document and photo mode and didn't see any option to separate images into different scans.

I will see if I can find software that can do this.

Ty for help

I tried 2 different programs, autosplitter and scan speeder. With autosplitter, it made 2 circles on each pic I scanned. Think that is because it is a trial version. If that is not part of the watermark for the trial version, I did not see how to remove the circles. Also had text saying register to stop watermarks. If buying it would remove both the text and the circles, then it would be much quicker than doing one at a time. Pricing looks like it is $30 for 2 years or $20 for 30 days.

Second one I tried is scan speeder, also a trial version but had no type of watermark but a limit of 10 scans. But that did speed the process up quite a bit, seemed faster than autosplitter. Wasn't able to do all of the pics I had to scan since it had a limit of 10 times but helped alot. Pricing is a little more expensive than autosplitter, $30 and $40 for what looks like to be for 1 year.

I got this project done. If I need to do something like this again, I am leaning towards scan speeder mainly because it was faster. Be nice to find something that has a one time purchase option that is good for life. I know I said was trying not to spend money but would save tons of time if I have lots to scan and cheaper than having a photo service like Walgreens do it. Who knows maybe next time I do this, they will have other options. Both programs were pretty simple to use.
