Hi,

I have just bought one of these. Hell, it takes 10 mins to scan a slide
(small positive)

It really, really depends on the settings.

The fastest scan is with all of the extra features turned off.
It shoud take about 3 minutes 30 seconds to 4 minutes for a 35mm slide scan.

If you're using 4800 DPI with Digital ICE turned on, then that sounds
about right.

Lower resolutios go faster. Digital ICE makes the scan take much
longer (although, IMO, the results are worth the wait.)
