Hi gang!

I have a Level 47 High Elf enchanter. I can't get the jewelrymaking skill
to go above 205. Is there some additional skill thing i should be doing?
I'm making the mask that trivials at 215 and haven't failed at all making it
although my skill won't go above 205.

Thanks in advance!

Lou

When I GM'd Jewel Crafting I hit a LONG slow spot from 200 to about 230, and
then things got a bit quicker to 245 and then seemed to take AGES to get to
250.

From what I remember, at 200-210 you hit 'the wall', where skillups are
few and far between, all the way to 250.
A couple of questions: Is your int capped? If not, insane as this may
sound, try to cap it as hard as you can. a 500pp piece of major int gear
can save you thousands of PP in skillup attempts. I got KEI.
Do you have a gearlok?
Are you enchanting all your metal? I seem to remember enchanted vs.
unenchanted at the high end makes the unechanted slightly lower trivial

One suggestion, depending on how much diamonds are on the bazaar, you
are likely going to lose less money per combine on Platinum Malachite
Rings. Gone are the days when you made enough profit to break even on
combines with plat, I'm afraid. I don't know how much you will lose
though. (actually, from plat malachite on, with gearlok, I consistantly
made money, which I proceeded to blow on the failed trophy attempt #1.
Don't get me started on Failed trophy attempt 2 and 3)

Took me 6 attempts to get my alchemy trophy.

I saw no significant difference from about 180 on up to 250 in JC. There
were some dry spells in there, just like any other tradeskill.

Information at eqtraders.com indicates that there are two rolls
to see whether you get a skillup. The first depends on your
primary stat (usually wis or int), which skill it is, and whether
the combine succeeded. The second is (200 minus level) / 200,
with a minimum of 1/20. So once you hit 190 your chances go to
at most 1/20, and as long as you keep your stat maxed the only
thing that should affect your skillup rate is your success rate.
(Well, that and the random number generator. 🙂

And a Geerlok device will help cut down on failure rate and raise your
tradeskill by 5% (translates to +10 at 200, +11 at 220, +12 at 240,
etc) but still won't help speed up the skillup. If you don';t have a
gnome with high tinker skill to make one, you can find almost all
Geerlok devices in bazaar for under 50pp (cheapest was 15pp for
brewing)

Yeah, I knew the point at which the skillup rate levelled off was
somewhere in there.
