Yep, that pretty much cinches it for me re EQ2.

Unbelievable. Sure, we all joked about it, but I never really expected them
to sell out like this. I could sort of understand it had they done this
with EQLive, as it's economy is already borked beyond repair, but for
crying out loud, EQ2 is in its infancy. We still have a *long* way to go
before facing the scenario where a new player has to buy plat just to be on
a level playing field with the average player of their level.

Some will say that since it was already happening to a (subjectively) great
degree, that it only makes sense for them to get their cut. I think that's
incredibly short-sighted. It completely ignores the negative impact on the
game as a whole.

Way to go, SoE. You've really stepped in it this time.

That's why I play on the test server. No plat farmers because the
market is way too small.

Same here. I'm cancelling today. It's a real shame, too.

You do realize that it's called Station Exchange, not EQ2 Exchange.
After they see how it goes on EverQuest II, they'll be adding it to all
their games.

If they do, I'll make my decision regarding EQ1 at that point, for now, I
still enjoy playing the game sufficiently that I will not cancel due to
them mucking up EQ2.

Given SOE's track record regarding the implementation of significant
changes, it's only a matter of time.

? Alla says it's live now?

http://eq2.allakhazam.com/

" SOE EQ2 Auction Site Opens
I received a phone call from SOE tonight to give me some pretty amazing --
and unsettling -- news. SOE's Station Exchange is now live. Station Exchange
you ask? Oh no, is that what I think it is? Yes, Sony is now going to start
allowing players to officially auction items and cash for real live money.
Initially, it will be limited to two new servers they are creating for
Everquest 2, with existing players being given the right to transfer to
those servers where they can buy and sell with officially sanctioned
impunity. However, this is just the experimental stage. It is clear from the
FAQ that if this proves to be financially successful, there is no reason not
to think that this experiment will eventually be expanded to all of EQ2 as
well as SOE's other games, which include Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies and
even possibly, given their large ownership share of Square-Enix, Final
Fantasy XI. IGE, meet SOE.

I believe they hit agility because of scouts, not fighters. With my
self-buffs, and my higher agility because of the power aspect, I could
tank a lot better than some tanks. Duoing with a healer meant the
healer started doing DPS because I wouldn't get hit at all. If I did
get hit (which was rare), it really hurt, but it didn't happen enough
to be concerned with. There were posts about how well predators (at
least assassins) could tank prior to the fix on the offical boards.
That doesn't mean that nerf didn't really really hurt though 😛

I'm not sure if I agree with that either. The quests were prety lame
for a bit, some there are some great ones. Heritages are a blast to do
(until you are stuck camping some stupid named mobs). The high-end
quests (Fire and Ice, Deception) are just incredible, everything about
them just rocks. The text and lore that go with it really pulled me
in, and that is saying something. In Bloodlines, even though
everything was gray, I still felt a sense of adventure while running
around in the new area to see what it was all about.

I will admit I don't know anything about carpenter issues. One of my
friends is a carpenter that just hit 40 earlier this week. She isn't
the type to complain, so I guess it isn't surprising that I didn't hear
about them. I can say she really enjoys making furniture (I can't wait
until I get a cedar archaic chair, that thing is awesome looking).

Sorry I beg to differ, the combat system is still all over the place with
endless fixes that help one class then nerf another. They stopped fighters
getting insane agility and becoming invincible only to nerf the hell out of
scouts at the same time.

The longer I play the game the more obvious it becomes that the game is
lacking spirit and a vision. All the quests seem so bland, where's the sense
of adventure? Dont get me started on the carpenter issue!

I am personally holding out until I hear what the expansion holds in store,
if it's simply more of the same then i'm out.

Count me in this group as well. However, I was considering moving from
monthly payments to either quarterly or yearly. Now I will stay monthly
until I see how this plays out on my server (Oggok).

I bought the half-elf lore quest. The first page said go to Antonica
(this character is from Freeport). The next page said go to The
Commonlands. The next page said go to Thundering Steppes (way south).
It just ping-ponged around the two continents the whole way through the
book. Annoying. Then it directed me to The Feerrot (I think that's
where it was). I stopped it then because I wasn't high enough level to
get there.
