Well I'll tell you what I'd have already done, for damage control for
Sony... (this assumes things are still down... actually I'd have already
done it)

Upgrade all EQ2 accounts to All-Access for the next 30 days free... if
they have another game it gives them something to do while the servers
are down. If they don't have any other game registered to the EQ2
account, give them the choice of a free EQ1 package thingy (what's that
these days, Trilogy+pok+the bazaar area?), or their shooter
(planetside?) with download link of course.

Go ahead and announce your free week, 2 weeks, or month (personally I'd
go month... sure it's (100,000 accounts x $13 or so) 1.3 million in
revenue, but Sony can afford little financial hiccups like that for some
customer retention), do it NOW, in an email to all active accounts.

This would not be good, because after that free 30 days, the person would
have to start paying if they want to keep playing the other games, so this
would look too much like Sony using the EQ2 downtime as a marketing
opportunity. They already have somewhat of a reputation as being the most
money-grubbing-to-the-extent-of-hurting-the-game of the major MMORPG
companies, and this would not help.

Even if they don't have a firm ETA, they should have an idea if this is
a 'few more hours' or 'a couple of days unless we get lucky'.

I'd only do the access pass, free game thing if it was 'a couple of
days'. I would however announce the free time *now*.

I think you're overreacting. It's a brand new game. It's bound to have
glitches. This is the first major problem in a game that's only been out for
a month. Overall it was a very smooth launch.

Don't you have Christmas shopping to do?

It did have a smooth launch. but they have a reputation for screwing up
and not (appearing to) care.

And no.. well yes, but it's just two pickups, they're already reserved.
Those are monday. Will be a bear, but just traffic. (unless they sold my
pre paid order out from under me, in which case I will raise hell...
I've already confirmed they are there over the phone).

No.. just an order in the nearby Big City (believe it or not, couldn't
find it online, had to order it through a retail chain for pickup at a
store...)

Hmmm bread type foods are generally +mana +int, since it's apparently
the exceptional combine of banana bread, I'd imagine it would have some
+mana regen while resting and do away with the obligitory negative dex
or agi.

Given the apparent difficulty in obtaining bananas (they are not on the
AH at all, much like dragon meat for Dragon Steaks) I'd probably guess
somewhere around +70 mana, +6 int, and probably +5 mana regen while resting.

Walnuts are good with most anything.
