Apart from the animation effect, what, if any, is the effect of crouching?
And sitting, for that matter?

Well, there's getting through those tiny doors in Baubleshire... Of
course, you automatically crouch when you try to go through.

Not really. May as well ask what the point of emote animations are,
though. Not everything has to have a functional gameplay purpose...

Sitting has no game effect at all. It is essentially an emote.

Using crouch allows you to enter low spaces (gnome houses, etc)

Well sitting in EQLive always had the effect of regaining health (and
other vital statistics which regenerate) a lot faster than you can while
standing. I haven't tested this with EQ2 yet but it probably has the
same effect.

It does not.

During beta, sitting would regenerate health and mana faster, but a few days
before release they changed regeneration rate to be completely based on which
food and drink you are eating.

Nothing that I've been able to tell -- I haven't figured
out whether sitting would interrupt a cast so that'd be
one use (crouching doesn't.)

It doesn't.

Sitting is just an animation, it has no effect. You don't heal or regain
power faster.

Crouching is also close to 'useless' but one thing it does is slow you down.
On the Qeynos Predator Class quest you have to go into the customs house and
kill a guy. Problem is you enter the building and there is a blue group
there of a guy and a wolf that mow everyone down. If you sneak and go in
without crouching they see you. If you crouch and move while sneaking they
don't.

I think this means that crouching basically 'hides' you a little bit more,
which in some cases is enough to get by.

Thanks for that, like I said, I never actually tested the theory 🙂
