I've just transferred everything across to my new laptop, and when I
went to run QuickRun the following error message came up:

"Component 'RICHTX32.OCX' not correctly registered: file is missing or
invalid"

Any ideas?

Kind of obvious, isn't it? The file isn't there. Reinstall it.

But what file is it, and where is it? I copied the quake folder straight
across from my external (backup) HDD, which in turn had been copied
straight across from my other PC, and which has been used on other
laptops without this problem before.

Are you kidding me? The filename is right there in front of you!!! It
obviously isn't in the Quake directory, and is probably a Windoze system
file of some kind (in /windows or /windows/system or something).

Another poster has done the work for you, I suggest you follow the link he
provided and restore the file.

Windoze rots your brain, and this is clear evidence of that... ;-)

A quick google came up with this ..

'

Hope that helps :)

What I was trying to ask, was what kind of file was it. I've now found
out it belongs in the System 32 folder, its now been replaced and
everything works fine.
I don't use my PC seriously enough to know the ins and outs of every
folder, only really for playing games, watching DVDs and emails etc.
Away and 'Phear the Penguin'.
