Erasing a hard drive

Hey all I'm looking to sell a PC that I dont really use anymore. Obviously though I dont want to leave any personal data etc on the HDD. So I'm looking to find out how to erase my data and files while still leaving the OS fully functional.

The safe way is to wipe the disk and the reinstall windows.

eg www.diskwipe.org

This will reformat and overwrite the disk ( a single pass of 0s is all that is really needed), then re-install windows.

Deleting data and using a file shredder is another option, however it won't be a 100% effective.
