Erasing my Harddrive

I'm going to sell my pc, and before doing that, I'd like to erase everything on my harddrive, although I was wondering what the exactly entails. Does that delete the operating system as well? I'd like to just have it be, like when I just installed my Windows 7.

Also what is the easiest and quickest way of doing this?

If you are selling it with the relevant OS:

DBAN, wipe the drive.
Depending on how and who you are selling it to, either reinstall the OS and give the new owner the OS install disk and license key
or
Just give them the OS install disk and license key, and let them install it
or
Just sell them the system with no OS
