Ergonomic Keyboard Lighting

I'm using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and like it very much. However, I cannot find this keyboard - or one like it - with backlighting. Is there some reason ergonomic keyboards don't seem to have lighting? I'm thinking of painting the keys with glow-in-the-dark paint.

Probably no particular reason, apart from 'limited market'.
The intersection of ergo and custom lighting is probably pretty small.

If there enough of a market, they would make and sell them.
No technical reason they don't.

And paint? I imagine that would wear off quite quickly.
