Here is a picture of the hinge I’m referring to:

I have back issues so sometimes I will play games / use the computer with a bed side monitor on an arm instead of sitting at the desk. I’m using the Ergotron sit stand monitor arm.

Sometimes if I move or adjust my sitting in bed, I want to change the tilt of the monitor. However, it is so incredibly tight that I have to press really hard on the monitor to tilt it. I have already adjusted it to its maximal looseness and it is still so tight.

Ergotron told me that’s basically just how it is. I am afraid to put a nicer monitor on here

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Ergotron have a number of arms in their portfolio;

Which one do you have? Mind sharing the make and model of the monitor perched up on the arm?

Noticing the image that you'd parsed, the bottom of the image shows to be what looks like a taut power cord...perhaps that's what might be causing the arm to not move as freely as you want...?

Hey thanks for getting back. It’s this one: https://www.ergotron.com/en-us/prod...uminum&capacity option=7–25 lbs / 3.2–11.3 kg

The tightness is not related to the power cord, it’s just tied up to hide the cord. It’s that the minimum tension on the tilt mechanism is still incredibly tight and cannot be further loosened.
