I am having difficulty with the onboard Radeon 4200 Graphics card in combination with my Radeon 7950 (PCIe) card. I have a triple monitor setup with the 7950 driving my main display, and the 4200 driving 2 smaller monitors on either side. Previously these worked fine, but attempting to install the latest version of ATI Video Driver (14.4), my 4200 stopped altogether. In addition, I can reliably trip a BSOD if I attempt to upgrade the ATI HDMI Audio driver (atihdw76.dll)... rolling back versions, even using the ATI Driver cleaning tool, has not corrected the problem.

The exact error message in the device driver is:
Name: ATI Radeon HD 4200
ID: PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9710&SUBSYS_D0001458&REV_00\4&1E891FBA&0&2808
Error code: 43

System Configuration:

  • OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
GPU: Powercolor ATI Radeon 7850 2GB (Driver Version 14.100.0.0)
GPU#2: Onboard ATI Radeon 4200 (Driver version 8.970.100.7000)
    MainBoard: Gigabyte GA-MA-785GM-US2H
    CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 630 (6.1.7600.16385)
    RAM: 2x4096MB DDR2 (DRAM Freq: 374.3 CAS Lat: 5)
Malware scans are negative, and sfc /scannow comes back clean.

  • A WinDbg of the minidump indicates:
    BugCheck 1000007E, {ffffffffc0000005, fffff88007a3c81e, fffff880033a87e8, fffff880033a8040}
    Probably caused by : AtihdW76.sys ( AtihdW76+481e )

Thanks for any help, and I am happy to provide any additional information.

Solution
hmmm seems like it would be best to get adapters for the card but regardless i would go into the bios and see if there are some settings that might have gotten switched off

Lack of cables. The 7950 has 1 DVI-D, 1 Display Port, and 1 HDMI.

I have DVID and VGA cables.

Also: It was working great before. I messed something up terribly and would like to sort it out.
