Error cod 16 on Dr Debug asrock P55 Extreme 4

Well I am also experiencing the dreaded 16 code.I bought the mb and it ran fantastic untill after about 21 hours of non continuious use.I got the blue screen of death,rebooted and booted all the way to window ran fine .I turned computer off for the night and whenI restarted in the am computer went into continuios reboot displayinf 78, D3 and 16 .I contacted Asrock tec and they werent all that helpful. I tried clearing the cmos using recomended method with the jumpers, moving ram . I am using 2 gskill 4 gig each 1600 sticks dual channel.Tried all connections and even checked to make sure processor was seated correctly. I will RMA if no one has a helpful sugestion.Thank-You in advance

Reference:
78 Initializes IPL devices controlled by BIOS and option ROMs.
D3 If memory sizing module not executed, start memory refresh and do memory sizing in Bootblock code. Do additional chipset initialization. Re-enable CACHE. Verify that flat mode is enabled.

My initial reaction is that you have either incompatible or bad RAM {IC set/Voltage/Mix-Matched/etc}.

Please list ALL RAM installed: 1. Slots, 2. Part-Number/Link of the EXACT RAM.

Also, create a bootable CD/DVD with Memtest86+ - D/L ISO/zip http://www.memtest.org/

Thank-you for your promt responce srry about multible post ,new here and didnt know you are not supposed to do that.I will try as soon as I can get alternate ddr3 to try. I will download mem chcker but unable to use as system or mb is constantly rebooting.I think trying dif ram will let me know if that is issue.I dont understand why it would work perfectly for 20 hrs and then fail.oh well lol.System never overheated perhaps manufacture flaw thank-you again

Try booting with (1) stick and if fails swap the stick.

Before you exchange your RAM -> I would encourage you to list the RAM. All toooooo often people purchase RAM that is incompatible for their MOBO and go through exactly as you are now, maybe not listing error codes but they're stuck in a 'boot-loop.'

Unless the RAM you currently have is 100% Certified/ASRock or Tested/RAM Mfg then don't get it.

Asrock web site states that G Skill 1600 is supported in the 2 gig it doent say if 4 gig is supported. However Asrock claims that each memory slot or I should say mb maxes out at 16 gig using 64bit configeration that would be 4 gig per slot. i dont have a way to test memory I am using a 750i xfx 775 mb and it only supports ddr2.I have sent P55 Extreme 4 mb RMA back to ASROCK.Once agai I also ask If memory wasnt supported mother board shouldnt have posted and ran fine for 22 hours. I am greatful for all the help. Hopefully this is all mute as I sent board back to ASROCK .I will let you know how it goes.

G Skill on there web page claims that 4gig is supported by Asrock p55 Extreme boards

I am going to ASS-U-ME that you purchased the {F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL} as KIT and NOT individually as {F3-12800CL9S-4GBRL}; reason you ONLY want a 'Matched Set/Kit' otherwise FAILURE is common!

The correct installation is indeed A1/B1.

If you run only DDR3_B1 {one stick1} are you still having the same problem(s), if so the swap out with stick2 in the DDR3_B1. What happens?

In addition, another COMMON problem with the P55/1156 are bent CPU pins - causing similar problems including 'missing' RAM.

Thank-you yes It was purchased as a matched set. Yor assumtion was correct sir 😉 .I really am greatful for all your help .great news that it is compatable . I looked all over the asrock site and couldnt find ,however the G.skil site said it was. And that added more confusion to the mix lol.I will be getting my motherboard back from asrock in a week or so - so there should hopefully be no more problems. I have built around 20 or so computers ,far from an expert, this is my first i5 build and the first time I have used DDR3. Thank-you again for your help you are way cool.

^ G.SKILL's site is VERY confusing to anyone, including myself, from time to time to understand.

I hope all goes well when you get your MOBO. I build 1-2/month I'm by no means in Expert, but it's always good to get a second set of eyes.

Post back - let me know how she turns-out; I'll keep my fingers crossed!

well I got a new motherboard back last thursday and everything is running great.However I now get an error code 99 I dont know what that means it isnt listed in book or on asrock site.I contacted them last thursday and still havent heard back. Does any one know what this code displayed by Dr Debug means on my asrock P55 Extreme 4 1156 motherboard. Like I said I am experienceing no problems Im just wondering if I should be concerned. Thank- You in advance

Hi I experience the same dr debog code, what does dr debug code 16 mean? Computer starts, POST and dr debug iterates through checkpoints to number 16, which is not a documented checkpoint so I suspect its an error code? Computer automaticly restarts and reboots, this continues until power is turned off. Have disconnected all peripheral devices and
tried no change. Removed 1 ram module - no change. Swapped the ram modules around - no change. Removed both modules and it stops at a checkpoint and does not reboot.

Did you ever find out what the code 16 stands for?
