This is a new desktop computer build. Everything was running fine initially. I installed an OS and various software. I then sent the computer away. The computer was running fine for the new user. A few days after the new user complained that "the monitor was not working."
When I power the system up, all system fans spin briefly and then stop(with the exception of one case fan that is plugged directly into the motherboard). The motherboard reads error code 00.
What I've tried so far:
1)swapped the power supply for a power supply that I know works.
2) reseated every power cable both ends
3) disconnected the GPU
4) disconnected each hard drive.
5) disconnected each case fan
6) disconnected power/led/reset buttons/usb cables
7) disconnected wifi antenna/keyboard/mouse
8) visually inspected the case for shorts
I just learned that a power cord connected to a Dell laptop on the same surge suppressor(newpoint S75T) failed at the likely the same time as the desktop. The user confirmed that their were sudden power outages.... not sure if the surge suppressor failed and something got fried.
I have an identical system that is running fine that I can use for parts.
