Question Error creating windows 10 install thumbdrive

I'm trying to create a USB to reinstall windows 10, but at the end of running the windows 10 set up tool, it gives me an error. It says error code: 0x80042405 - 0xA001A

I'm trying to reinstall windows for a customer of mine on their laptop. Is there a better way to go about this? The built in recovery/reset in the troubleshooting menu is not working.

Can you create the USB from another system? Alternatively, you can run the tool on their system, tell it to upgrade their system, but not to keep any data. That should give a similar effect

Try this, Download the Media Creation Tool directly to the USB drive that you want to use a bootable device. In simple terms, download the Tool into the same USB which you want to use as an installation media.
