I recently bought Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 kit, when I put the ram into the dim slots, I get 16gb registered but the speed is only 667mhz,

Even after setting the xmp profile to 1, in the bios it says 1866mhz but when I got to task manager, the speeds are listed as 667mhz

I do not know what to do!

I do not want to return my one day old purchase

Any ideas of what to do?

My motherboard is the Gigabyte UD3 990FX REV 4.0

I did save , rebooted, but it still stays the same

When i check speccy , it says 930mhz but in task manager it says 667mhz

Xmp profile 1 is set, I saved the settings, still no change

Hello... Well... 930 is a good #... 1860 speed... Where are you looking in your "Task manager" Win8 or win7? I wouldn't trust the Task manager in this matter... not all reporting software is accurate.

You might need to go to repost with your MB model and "Help manually setting 1866 memory setting"
Someone else will be able to walk you though the proceedure that is familiar with your MB/BIO's.
